If you are unfamiliar with Les Paul & Mary Ford, please take the time to track down some of their records. I wrote a little about having my mind blown by the couple here.

Since then, technology such as the internet and the smartphone, have enabled massive changes in distribution.

As with all technologies, these things start off pretty expensive and then, when the naturally deflationary nature of technology is allowed to run its course, the price adjusts as a reflection of how much we value the idea - Take the Eventide Harmonizer as an example. When it first came out, it sold for around $1600 ($9,500 in today's money BH:84116). Now the company's H6 pedal can do a similar job and more, for a fraction of the price (£650).
